In the decades since CarylJae has been blazing stages with her powerful voice and sultry performances, one thing remains constant. CarylJae is a quintessential creative led by her intuition, love and drawing strength from nature and all that life has to offer. Formerly known as Trini Jacobs, this Trinidadian born singer and songwriter brings a distinctive flare to soca, reggae and R&B music.

Her solo career began as the only Trinidadian artist signed to a Jamaican music label, where she took the name “Trini Jacobs” combining the nickname Trini with her family name Jacobs. She now goes by CarylJae to represent the evolution of her indomitable style that will continue to set fashion trends and evolve to new artistic heights. After a brief hiatus, and the birth of her son, CarylJae is ready to reintroduce her voice to the action. In November 2017, CarylJae released “Ah Cya Wait (My Time)” marking her return to the Trinidad Carnival scene. This song reflects the anticipation felt each year as revelers look forward to the carnival season and as soon as it ends, we cya wait to do it all over again.

Her musical influences come from different genres, exposure to her musical parents, and life’s journey. CarylJae migrated to the United States after her final year at St James Secondary School in Port of Spain, and one day before her 12th birthday. As a teen, she made her stage debut singing a cover of “Heaven Help Us All” by Stevie Wonder. In an instant, the shy young girl who loved to play sports became a vocalist in high demand. She continued to perform with her family’s band and was a favored repeat performer of the U.S. national anthem for the NBA at Miami Heat basketball games. She draws inspiration for songwriting from milestones of the past, present and the possibilities of the future.

Her debut solo album “Like no Other” was initially released by Empire/Universal in the United States and re-released by Universal Records in Japan with a re-mix of “You Have Me Caught” featuring the late great Dennis Brown and Kream. Over the years she’s worked with other legendary reggae artists such as Glen Washington, and internationally known dancehall artists Red Rat (on “You Think You Know Me”) and Tanto Metro (on “Slow This Party Down”).
CarylJae was featured on the Grammy nominated Rhythm Doubles CD, a various artist compilation by Sly & Robbie. Her single “Keep It Up” was one of the hits from that collection.

She received wide acclaim in the soca world for collaborations with multi-platinum international soca artist Kevin Lyttle on the song “Sexy Ways”, and for the single “Love is” with award winning soca artist Machel Montano. In 2010, she was the front-line vocalist for the legendary Roy Cape All-stars Family. She’s performed on the international carnival circuit from Trinidad to Labor Day in New York, and Caribbana in Canada. She’s also performed in Europe and in Surinam.

CarylJae has beauty, brains, character, talent and style. She has the kind of voice that gives you chills, and her presence in a room or on stage exudes passion for music and life. Now signed to Tarakon Records, her fans can expect high energy live performances showcasing her sultry style, and new music to reflect revelry, joy, triumph and love.
